New appreciation for ourselves

I was just thinking how necessary it is to appreciate. To simply breath and smile. Perhaps it is just I but I have been thinking that gratitude has been a recent theme of this year. Even doctors say expressing gratitude is one of the best medicines for living a healthy and loving life. Waking up with a grateful heart. Being thankful for what you have, not degrading yourself and your life but counting the things you do have. But also lets take a moment to distinguish being thankful for what you have on the premise of feelings versus tangible items. It is great and wonderful to have a bed and a roof over your head and food in your fridge. However I think going one step further is being thankful for the feelings you have and are given to you. Thankful for the happiness, the sadness, the anger, the freedom, the security, the embarrassing, the laughter, the skepticism, the rejection, the insouciance, the lost, the vulnerable, the rebellious, the daring, the bold, the brave... PAUSE FOR PONDER The question comes, be thankful for everything? What about the infuriating, the abandoned, the terrible, victimized...? I do not know. Honestly, why do these things even have to exist? Maybe to be the hurdles. The challenges are what make you smarter, stronger, more compassionate, more diverse, more resilient among countless others. As many have said before me, our scars do not define us but they are a part of us.
I never really understood the saying, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". But somehow I feel as though my understand is growing by each day because of each experience. I am thankful for that.
Live by the wishes of your heart
“Piglet noticed that even though he had a very small heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.” A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
In a world more heavily run by mathematics, economics, logic, and statistics; the topic of most conversations is profit. Therefore, lets bring some attention to whats most profitable for our living. It is beyond profitable to be grateful, to be appreciative.
When you perform this concept of gratitude you will notice how much freedom you gain from expectation, from "prefect", from rejection, making you stronger. Hmm there seems to be a theme. You will be a more grounded individual; In your life practicing the idea of you are the controller of your life. No one else. You. Be grateful for the freedom as you can do so much and you can and should go after what, from below, catches your heart.
“Pursue what catches your heart, not what catches your eyes.” ― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
